Thanks for choosing to connect your AWS account to CostLens. Before you go any further, please take a moment to read through the following — it explains how CostLens works and what to expect from the service.
Your privacy and security come first. The IAM role you create grants CostLens strictly read-only access to certain billing, cost, and resource information in your AWS account. We don't store or hold on to any of the underlying data we access during a scan — the only thing we keep is the findings we generate on your behalf, such as short descriptions, estimated savings, and resource identifiers, never raw usage data, logs, or the contents of your account.
The findings and recommendations CostLens surfaces are meant purely as helpful suggestions, based on the usage patterns we observe at the time of a scan. They're not guarantees, and they shouldn't be treated as a certification that any particular resource is safe to change. AWS environments shift over time, and something that looks idle today may be in active use tomorrow, so we always recommend reviewing a finding yourself before acting on it.
By connecting your account, you're agreeing that any changes you make in your AWS environment — whether or not they were prompted by something CostLens showed you — are made at your own discretion and your own risk. CostLens and its team aren't responsible for any downtime, data loss, or other issues that might result from changes made to your AWS resources.
We're glad to have you here, and we take the trust you're placing in us seriously. If anything here is unclear or you'd like more detail on what CostLens can and can't see, we're always happy to walk you through it.
